The Old Front Line
The Great War podcast that sets the standard against which all Great War podcasts are measured. Presented by military historian and writer Paul Reed, this exceptional podcast looks at all aspects of the Great War and using Paul’s intricate knowledge of the subject provides a fascinating and well-presented look at all things WW1.

Presented by American academic Mike Cunha, this long running and informative podcast looks at a wide variety of Great War matters, including subject matter expert interviews and detailed examination of battles and events from 1914 onwards.

Presented by battlefield guide Terry Whenham, this fascinating podcast deals with the intensely personal stories of the men who fought and died in WW1. Terry has found a unique approach to podcasting that works extremely well.
Great War websites
The Long long trail
Unquestionably the finest resource on the internet for the Great War. Created by Chris Baker it is THE place to go for information about WW1. Masses of research, a lively forum and a depth of information that is exceptional. This is a wonderful website indeed.
Trench map archives

A marvellous resource provided by the National Library of Scotland which contains a searchable trench map archive. Maps can be overlaid on modern maps to identify the exact location of WW1 trenches.
Linesman trench mapping

Linesman was a game changer when it was released. This digital archive of WW1 maps can be downloaded to a phone or iPad/tablet and can be used on the battlefields using GPS to show ones position against the trenches of WW1. The desktop version can be very useful for showing contours and plotting routes etc.
